Una’s story: Where there’s Coco, there’s home

At 88 years old, Una Wettenhall understands the importance of companionship, and for her, that friendship often arrives with a wagging tail at Harbison Care in Moss Vale NSW.

I grew up surrounded by animals on a family farm 26 kms west of Orange in New South Wales. Dogs were always part of my life on the land, and over the years I owned eight dogs of various breeds, each leaving lasting memories. That lifelong connection continues today through my four-year-old Labrador, Coco.

Although Coco does not live permanently at Harbison in Moss Vale, she visits regularly as a luxury doggy guest, which allows me to continue enjoying the comfort and affection of a beloved pet while living in residential aged care.

When Coco visits, it means everything to me. She’s wonderful company and brings back so many memories of my previous dogs.

I’ve been living at Harbison Care Moss Vale for 12 months and the facility’s pet-friendly approach has played an important role in helping me feel settled.

In December 2025, Coco became Harbison Care’s very first overnight canine guest. We enjoy wandering around Harbison’s beautifully maintained grounds, supported by wonderful staff who ensure both resident and pet are safe and comfortable.

Coco’s visit brings me joy not only to me but also to other residents and staff. Living in a place where pets are welcomed, even as visitors, means everything to me.
