Carmen and Bossy: A Story of Love and Support

When my husband passed, the house felt very empty. My family and I found a cat for sale on Gumtree for $50 and that was the start of me and Bossy’s great love story.

Bossy keeps me company; he climbs up the step next to the bed to meet me each morning. As soon as I wake up, I say ‘Up Up’ and up he comes for us to start our day. He’s the most amazing companion and he keeps me entertained all day.

Laura, a support worker from home care provider, SereneCare, has been instrumental in helping me with Bossy’s care. She knows which foods and cat litter Bossy prefers and always keeps an eye on the supermarket specials so that week’s shopping trip we can get the best bargains for Bossy and myself!

My daughter Cynthia helps Bossy with vet trips, administering flea treatments and grooming. I know she also appreciates the help that I receive through my home care package and says it would be of benefit to so many people if support workers were able to assist with additional tasks related to an animal’s care.”
