Phillis embraces independence caring for Charlie with in-home support

I live in Brooklyn Park, South Australia, with my bird Charlie. He is an exotic pineapple conure parrot and my great buddy. When he wakes up first thing in the morning he clunks around wanting to be uncovered. I open his cage and he stays peaceful until I am up and about.
When I come home, he says “hello hello’ as I come in the door. I always say ‘Back soon Charlie’ when I go out and he will repeat. When I am on the phone he chats away. He is a great companion to me. I get kisses when I feed him, he shakes hands with me before I go to bed.
I am currently independent with caring for Charlie at home along with support from (in-home aged care provider) Hazel Home Care. My experience with them have been perfect. Staff that attend my home love Charlie and they love to interact with him. Charlie loves getting the attention too!
Charlie is marvelous and he can be cheeky! It’s great to have him making a noise at home. It would be very traumatic if I had to leave Charlie to go into an aged care facility. I would hate to have to leave him behind.
